What’s Said Behind Closed Doors…

I’ve written before on the irony of the “Yes on 1″ side playing the victim card.   We’ll it seems they really are feeling the pressure of their position.  On Thursday, the Yes on 1 campaign held a rally in August that was closed to the media.  Bizarrely, they let in one station, WGME (CBS), who ran a piece (video available).

It shows a complete lack of empathy that they don’t understand that feeling of being persecuted is exactly what gay people have felt throughout history.  My two favorite quotes from Mark Mutty on the media being barred per the request of Tony Perkins, of the Family Research Council.

A lot of people attended because they felt the security of not having media there.

People…are so concerned about coming forth and even discussing their views, for fear that they’re going to be labeled a bigot.  And that’s a real concerned.  In today’s society being labeled a bigot is a really nasty thing.

Hmmm, I guess it’s always easier to express beliefs when you’re only around people who agree with you and you can remain anonymous.  The fact that you don’t want to be open about your beliefs reveals quite a bit.

Note to Tony Perkins–if you don’t want to be seen speaking about your hateful views, you could also try wearing a white robe and hood (admittedly, that might be going a bit far for everyone else in the room, but I truly loathe Tony Perkins).
