This American Life doing a two part series on health care right now. I love This American Life, and now they’ve done a fantastic job explaining the problems of health care and, specifically, the work of Jack Wennberg and Elliott Fisher that looks at the disparities in the treatment people receive across the country, and even counties. They also do a fantastic job of explaining the issues around comparative effectiveness and the fact that more treatment can actually cause you to be unhealthier. Really a fantastic primer for anyone interested in health reform and maybe more important for those who aren’t. The podcast is free on iTunes, or you can listen below.
