Homophobic NY Post Column on ‘The Kids Are All Right’
The New York Post ran a column yesterday by Andrea Peyser accusing the film The Kids Are All Right of being Hollywood pro-gay propaganda. She even goes so far as to argue that it is trying to not only promote same-sex relationships, but also attacks heterosexual relationships. The column is over the top, and while I haven’t seen this movie, it’s gotten really great reviews. Jeremy at Good As You responds. To give you a sense of Peyser’s perspective, she prefers to call same-sex relationships “shenanigans” and goes to the “they’re coming after the children” argument.
It reaches further than the gay-cowboy romp “Brokeback Mountain,” whose characters maintained a sense of otherness while shielding the kids from their shenanigans. In this movie, exposing kids is the entire point.
One line really captures the essence of her piece:
And this is how Hollywood does an end run around morality.
